About

K. Satish

I was born in Chennai to a warm and humble family — my father, a dedicated government doctor, and my mother, a homemaker. I have an elder brother who is also a doctor. During my early years, my father’s job had him travelling across Tamil Nadu, so I spent much of my childhood living with my grandparents while attending school in Chennai.

Growing up apart from my parents shaped me in unexpected ways. It taught me resilience and independence early on. I still vividly remember wading through flooded streets during monsoon season, water reaching above my hips, carrying a spare set of clothes so I could change once I reached school. Life had its challenges — one such moment etched in memory was a robbery at my grandparents’ house when I was just six. I watched in silence as the event unfolded, carrying a quiet fear that stayed with me. Looking back, I feel these experiences built the foundation for the courage I now carry — the courage to explore the world alone.

My academic journey led me to pursue medicine. I completed my undergraduate studies at Madras Medical College (MMC), followed by my post-graduation at Kilpauk Medical College (KMC). Along the way, I trained in various departments — including a 6-month internship at MMM Heart Hospital, intensive care at Vasanthi Medical Centre for over a year, and nephrology at Guest Hospital for a year.

I used to study in the mornings and serve as a duty doctor in the evenings — that’s when my passion for Pediatrics truly took root. Treating children brings me joy that’s hard to describe — it’s deeply fulfilling. There's something magical about helping a sick child recover quickly and seeing the relief and gratitude on their parents’ faces. Those moments stay with me.

Medicine is my profession, but travel is my transformation. The quiet boy who once walked alone to school now walks through countries, meeting strangers who become stories — and I’m here to share them with you.
